Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM)
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)
Pays you
Amount varies
Volunteers receive a modest monthly stipend explicitly calibrated so they can live at an economic level similar to that of their host community - the ELCA describes it as neither a salary nor an hourly wage, and the exact amount varies by country program and is not published. On top of the stipend, YAGM provides ROUND-TRIP INTERNATIONAL AIRFARE to and from the country of service, full room and board, all US-based training events, transportation to in-country retreats, basic international travelers' health insurance and a mental health support program. The ELCA states it costs the church approximately $15,000 to support one volunteer for a year - that is the church's cost, NOT a bill to the participant.
$0–$4,000 upfront to start
PAYS RATHER THAN CHARGES. A year-long international accompaniment program placing young adults with Lutheran partner churches and organizations in country programs worldwide, providing round-trip airfare, full room and board, health insurance and a monthly stipend. Participants are asked to help fundraise but are not charged tuition.
