Funding at risk
The FY2026 White House budget proposed eliminating Fulbright funding entirely (a 93% cut to the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs). House appropriators rejected this and approved roughly $287M (near FY25 levels) in a July 2025 markup, but the bill had not completed the full legislative process as of this check. A substantial number of already-selected 2025-26 ETA candidates also received late rejection letters. Treat as currently operating but politically at-risk heading into FY2027.
