$999 program fee for the summer 2026 cycle (dates 4 June - 29 July 2026), though the exact figure varies slightly by city because housing costs differ. The fee covers housing, educational programming, program staff, basic medical insurance and ground transportation - remarkable value for eight weeks and a function of heavy philanthropic subsidy. EXCLUDED and material: FLIGHTS (budget $900-$1,600 round trip to Tel Aviv from the US), FOOD for the full eight weeks (budget $600-$1,200), and phone service. DEPOSIT: a $400 credit card authorization is required as a participation and security deposit - this is a hold rather than an automatic charge, but families need available credit for it. Realistic all-in is therefore roughly $2,500-$3,800, still far below any commercial equivalent. TIP: participants who append Onward to a free 10-day Birthright trip can use Birthright's included flight (airline extension fees apply), which can remove most of the airfare cost - this is the single biggest available saving. The $999 price already reflects deep subsidy. Additional need-based grants are frequently available through the sponsoring federation or Hillel - ask the local sponsor directly, as these are not advertised centrally.
