Operation Wallacea Research Expeditions
Operation Wallacea (Opwall)
Costs you
Amount varies
PRICE NOT CONFIRMED - Operation Wallacea does not publish expedition prices publicly. Opwall states there is a standard fee paid to it for all expeditions, but the total varies with departure airport, group size and payment method, and quotes are issued directly to group leaders rather than posted online. TWO BOOKING MODELS: a package including international flights, internal travel and expedition costs; or an expedition-elements-only booking where you arrange your own travel. Because of this, a family cannot compare Opwall against a priced program without first requesting a quote. Historically expeditions have run in the low-to-mid thousands for one to two weeks, but no current figure could be verified and NO PRICE SHOULD BE ASSUMED. Request a written quote specifying whether flights, insurance, visas and dive certification are inside or outside the number. Opwall publicizes fundraising support and some bursary routes via schools rather than direct scholarships. Not confirmed for individual gap-year applicants.
We take no commission if you enroll and have no relationship with the operator.
Biodiversity research expeditions in Honduras, Mexico, Indonesia, Fiji, Peru, South Africa and elsewhere, where participants collect data alongside academic scientists on genuine long-term monitoring projects. Structured mainly around school groups and university dissertation students rather than individual gap-year enrollment.
