Thailand Government School English Teaching (OBEC public schools)
Thai Ministry of Education public schools (OBEC), hired directly or via private placement agencies
Pays you
THB 25,000–THB 45,000/mo
Government/public schools typically pay THB 25,000-40,000/month, with THB 30,000 the common baseline for a degree-plus-TEFL first-timer and up to ~THB 43,000-45,000 for stronger qualifications or bilingual-program roles. Housing is sometimes free or subsidized (a THB 3,000/month housing allowance is common at bilingual schools) but is not standard at ordinary government schools. Private bilingual and international schools pay considerably more but are a different hiring track.
Thai government primary and secondary schools hire foreign English teachers year-round, most commonly for the May and November semester intakes. There is no single centralized Thai government recruitment program for foreigners - hiring is school-by-school or through fee-charging private placement providers.
